The Calfin S.p.A. takes over a large part of EZM Edelstahlzieherei Mark GmbH, thereby securing important jobs and business operations at the Wetter and Witten sites

The origins of EZM Edelstahlzieherei Mark GmbH date back to 1906. Since then, the company has specialized in the manufacture of various steel products such as steel profiles, (precision) bright steel, bar steel, and their processing and finishing. In addition to its extensive product portfolio, EZM offers its customers a wide range of metalworking and processing services, including contract manufacturing. The company supplies customers from various industries, such as the automotive industry, the energy sector, medical technology, and mechanical engineering. In the recent past, intensive research has been conducted to expand the product portfolio to include future-oriented industries.

In fiscal year 2023, the last full fiscal year without the effects of insolvency, EZM Edelstahlzieherei Mark GmbH achieved a total output of approximately €58.6 million and employed 248 people.

In November 2024, the company filed for insolvency under its own administration.

Although production had already been discontinued, the entry of the Calfin Group now enables a new start for the long-established company. Business operations were resumed under the newly founded EZM GmbH. Thanks to the extensive commitment of the buyer and the successful development of additional business areas, the company is laying the foundation for positive further development. Even though the market environment remains challenging, the focus is clearly on the future again: the locations are being secured, developed for the future, and sustainably repositioned.

In addition to the business operations, the commercial property at the Wetter site was also taken over by the buyer, and a small part of it by a neighboring entrepreneur.

As part of the self-administration proceedings, the management of EZM Edelstahlzieherei Mark GmbH was replaced by Dr. Kai Eck and Mr. Ralf Schneider from the law firm of Dr. Mike Westkamp, Christian Schulze, Dr. Michael Schaumann, and Dr. Jan Janßen (law firm GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten) as advisors to the self-administration and by TMC Turnaround Management Consult GmbH (Kai Peppmeier and Claus Keller) as restructuring advisors. The experienced restructuring expert Prof. Dr. Peter Neu, partner in the renowned law firm ATN - d'Avoine Teubler Neu – Rechtsanwälte, was appointed as administrator.

The sale process was supported by CVM Capital Value Management GmbH.
